Going on holiday tomorrow. We are going on a cruise around the British Isles. We start from Tilbury, up to Scotland, Invergordon, Stornaway and Tobermorey.
Then over to Dublin, Scilly Isles, Guernsey and then Honfleur in France though what Honfleur has to do with a British Isles cruise I don't know but we do like it there so no objections from us. We are sailing on the Marco Polo has anyone been on this ship? Any views on it?
We have bought a MIFI so hopefully will be able to use iPad.
Hope you enjoy it Caran, have you googled about the ship, I haven't been on it, it's quite old and used to be the Alexander Pushkin I think or similar name to that. It was involved in bad weather last year I think it was when on a cruise abroad, but think if you need to know more you should look it up.
Thanks for the info. Baldric, we have googled it and got a fair bit of info but did wonder if any ABers had been on board.
Thanks for all your good wishes folks, much appreciated.
Although Tilbury is not up to much, don't forget to have a look at Tilbury Fort as you leave. It will be on the port side immediately after the ship enters the river. It is the finest example of a low level fort in the UK and was in use until 1950. You'll need to be fairly high up on the ship as the protective embankment is quite high. Don't know what time you're leaving but high tide is round about noon tomorrow and there will be about 16 feet of extra water at that time. Have a good trip.
and note that ad down the left hand column: if you provide a review of your own cruise, they'll publish it and send you a free Berlitz cruise guide (great big thing covering virtually every ship, not like the little Berlitz pocket guides).
