Bitter/mild, I was thinking weather. Just a shot in the dark though. I have a feeling we'll be disappointed when we find out what the answer was...
Abigail Mead? - (a big ale?)
And Lake Mead covers a large area!
A bigail is a possibility, Calibax. I'm not sure of the Mead for the area though (there is a Lake Mead, I think)
Sorry, I spent too long thinking of a better word than mead
Maybe I've gone full circle back to Alessia
(Ale Asia)
Mead can be meadow/lea which could be a big area. Just a suggestion though. There seems to be nothing that quite fits the bill for this one.
I'd forgotten about that old use of the word Mead.
Shame they're called the Alessi (ale/sea) Brothers :(
I think that's where I started about 4 weeks ago.
I hope we find the eventual answer
So the candidates so far seem to be:
Abigail Mead ( a big ale mead)
Al Green
Alessia (Ale + Asia)
Opposites Attract
Billy Ocean (Beer L ocean)
Alicia Keys
Can (sounds like Cannes)
Billy (beer lea)

Oops- last one was meant to say Billie

My favourite is Be-tract-er giving Bet Carter
Good look Diddydodd.
If it is that it's a poor clue as there is no anagram indicator, but quite a few other clues are flawed too so you may be right.
Anyway it's a fun quiz for a good cause
I meant good luck , Diddydodd. Let us know when you find the answer.
I had a further thought which seems as strong as Bet Carter. I thought of Alex Clare (who had a big hit not long ago) as that is ALE and then an anagram of XL (extra large) and ACRE (an acre is an area). Once again though I see no anagram indicator in the clue
There was a Scots group called Big Country!
There was indeed (I used to like them), but it doesn't cover the 'mild or bitter' bit
Does anyone know whether the answer has been published yet?

Answers come out on 21 Sept. Can't wait!! Thanks to all for your time.
Is the answer out now, Diddydodd?
