I know the players have their individual numbers on their shirts - Alistair Cook has 630 as he's the 630'th English Player - but my question is why does he have 100 on his Cap?

Is he the 100'th English Captain or what?

Yes, he has 100 caps for England. They tend to do them in 25's i.e. if a player has 84 caps for England they will still only wear a cap with 75 on it.
Look around the players and you will see they have either 25, 50, 75 or 100 on them.
