Would You Have Said Something?

Himself went out with boy #1 today and they both saw a woman bend down to her child (about 8 years old), punch the child in the face whilst hissing at him to 'shut up'! I'm pretty sure I would have said something (not sure what though), would you have said something?

Definitely. If you saw someone assault and adult, you would say something, assaulting a child is even worse.

At the very least I would have phoned the police right there and then.

If this woman is happy to punch a child in public, can you imagine what she does behind closed doors.

I would ensure she knew I had seen her actions. I may even have reported it to police/social worker.

I would unhesitatingly have said something and I might very well have dialled 999. Stupid people like this need to be dealt with fast...who knows what would have happened when she got him home, if she was prepared to do that in public ?

I'm considering phoning the shop to see if they have it on CCTV, I'm pretty amazed he didn't say anything but he seems less 'confrontational' these days.

I'd have phoned the police and probably slugged her one to see how she liked it! (and probably been arrested myself but...)

That is disgusting behaviour ! Yes I would certainly have said something to hell with the consequences, that is out of order and no excuse. I hate reading things like this, makes my blood boil. Poor child.

In his defence, I don't think he realised until it was too late, he's not overly observant. I think it only dawned on him when he recalled the incident.

Baldric - The woman punched her son, my husband probably didn't realise what was going on until it was over (he's not only observant).
