I'd advocate for only selling them to a licensed group, so individuals can't buy them.
As above.
Trouble is some of the idiots who don't use them properly or safely will probably find ways of getting hold of them anyway.

There was an awful incident by where I work just recently which ended up with a child being very badly injured by a firework.
As above.
No and no.
They should only be sold to good spelirs.
even as a child I loathed them - but, some people like them - should they be banned? .....from the safety aspect I don't think they should but from the sheer irk factor and potential for malacious damage to animals and property, then yes.-
Bloody hell Jenna, that is a bad one, poor kid will be scared for life I should imagine.
They should certainly only be sold to licensed groups, if only to try to keep them out of irresponsible hands.

Does Jenna's reply justify the banning of these things Ummmm? some where there is something wrong.
Jenna's link is for an industrial firework, not a domestic one sold in shops across the country. A ban on sales would not prevent this kind of incident.
No.
No. I sympathise with dog owners and so on, but I don't want public festivals taken over by the state and people having to sit exams before they can light a Roman candle.
eeeee pound eeeee pound gone.......................
Things have got much better here in NI since they must be licensed. Fewer idiots going around abusing them.
No but I think the spoilsports will win in the end. I have just got back from local annual display. Last year it was cancelled for H&S reasons. This year:
The bonfire was in the middle of a fenced off field at least 50m from anyone
The fireworks were at least 100m away
Constant PA announcements - only use sparklers in the designated area.
I ask you. I shan't bother next year.
one of my cats is going bonkers to go out, but there are still fireworks going off and so she's stopping in for now.
No, sorry I'm with Umm and Jno, definatly not necessary.
Should we ban cars because people misuse them? It seems that fireworks always get the blame. Fireworks are very safe, the problem is misuse. Accidents are usually not accidents but negligence and it is easier to blame the firework than the idiots who choose not to follow the instructions on them. If someone threw a brick through your window, would you blame the person who sold the brick? So I firmly say o, they should not be banned. The British tradition of bonfire night has already been usurped by the American Halloween celebrations. Please let's not diminish it further. After all, lighting a firework is one of the last freedoms in this nanny state.
