I assume 2 Down is FOREIGN MINISTER but I don't know why. Can someone explain, please?
Also, what is the wordplay for 5 Down? I have SPEARHEADED and assume the bird is A RHEA but what's the rest?

Sorry Sooty - should have given the clue. It was "An MP's power, given little in advance." Thanks to Kayakamina for explanation of the wordplay but I'm still not too clear about the definition. Have to say, I find A RHEA'D in the answer to 5 a bit tortuous.

I answered it as 'A R(ed) Head inside speed', but was corrected by a few of the best parsers on here.

Hi Kayakamina - is it strictly correct that foreign ministers are MPs. Was Lord Carrington, for example?
