I think Paxman is University challenge. The earth is frozen planet. Anyone know what the red/pink wig is or the writing just behind the wig and the golden explosion. The skelton could be The Walking Dead
@ramsfan Perhaps the Tudor rose is for "The Tudors"?
@organictarm - the red/pink wig is Mary Portas: Queen Of Frocks
Thanks very much for the walking dead. Passed me by. I'd first thought of the tudors but a quick google suggested it wasn't on this year, while I'd thought it was.
the Tudors was on in sept 2011. Does anyone have an idea for the Fern, could it be fearne cotton or britton? And whoes the geezer in the loweer left hand window?
@organictarn: Personally, I think this is a long shot - but there are rumblings in other parts of the internet that the fern *may* be something to do with the Rugby World Cup as it was in New Zealand this time around, and the fern is the NZ rugby logo....
@organictarn: and I believe that the "geezer" in the window is none other than James Nesbit in a white coat (Monroe)
Thanks for info about the Tudors and also Monroe
Hi gang, I am new here but feel the need to chip in. I have 44 answers and would be happy to offer them but I'm struggling with the last 6
1. Flame/torch on wall
2. Clock
3. Dogs in clothes
4. Golden spiral sign
5. Yellow flash of light
6. Liberty/justice statue

I'd appreciate any help. A couple to get you going... The man in doorway is the character called gatehouse from "the shadowline"... I believe the leaf in window refers to fern brittens chat show simply called "fern" (it first aired this year but has now been axed... haha).
@davyboy1999 For number 4 - see my answer earlier in the thread (it does help if you look for answers already posted before asking about them)
@dataheadache Not every answer posted here is necessarily correct! I have seen the spiral on the set of QI but the link is a little weak. It may also refer to "the code", a maths series which featured on BBC this year
Yes I could be wrong with the rugby. But how can you tell? It was a bigger event than 2 episode, then axed Fern. Whereas "Fern Britton meets" sounds a stayer. Thanks for The Shadow Line. I missed that, and reading the cast list, it sounds just the kind of thing I'd like. I think Liberty might be Garrow's Law. There lots of Law and Order things, but that has the Old Bailey connection. And thanks for the golden flash. I was one clue down, having decided I was seeing a clue that wasn't there in the wall markings below Berry. There is a man in the back of that room, but I think too small to be a clue. There is other lettering, e.g. on pub signs, and by Dragon's den, which seems too small to matter. I'm still stuck on the Clock, the Cross, the Torch, the Dogs and now the Flash.
@davyboy1999 - It is definitely from QI - as mentioned on the QI website....
I think we have to seriously consider the Code as the answer. I agree it's part of the QI set. I didn't know that before but now I've gone on the QI website and looked at Jonathan Green, the set designer's blog. However it's more clearly shown on the Code's website. It's a common design, showing the connection between Fibonacci numbers and the Golden section or number as in the Nautilus shell.
@ramsfan You should definitely check out "the shadowline"... it was great. I agree, there are several clues which could have multiple answers and there is no way to confirm which is correct. For example the chef Lorraine pascale has appeared in 3 different shows this year... The correct answer could be any one of them
I think The Code is very obscure - you've got to remember that these are mainstream programmes that a lot of people will have watched....
@davyboy1999 - I think that where there have been multiple series on in the year, the answer they are after (going by what Radio Times said last year) it's the one that is closest to this Christmas.
@dataheadache From memory I think the code was quite heavily advertised on the BBC at the time and the fact it has it's own website backs that up. I agree QI is the bigger show but sometimes they are looking for one off shows such as the shadow line, great British weather or comic strip presents... I'm keeping my options open at the moment
It may be that it was heavily advertised - but that doesn't make it mainstream... Also, as from previous RT Big Quiz answers, I note that a lot are Christmas Specials - and there is a QI christmas special (and I don't see a christmas special of The Code)...
Not too sure where you got the idea that all the answers are "mainstream" tv shows?
