In the shrubbery something stirs. Sounds like a cross between a duck's quack and a crow's caw but with the volume turned down. I'm sheltering from the rain beneath the old pine tree whilst all the time the scolding moves eerily above me. Around me is a bed of nettles which twitches each leaf at random as drips fall from the upper branches.

Nettles? Why are there nettles in the shrubbery? Has it really been neglected for that long? Will it ever stop raining? Will that presence above me ever shut up? So many questions and too few answers.

Reality sinks in. Yes, there have been many months of unchecked growth in the shrubbery, but at least it hides the detrius of the Bacchanalian excesses of a past era.

As I accept the inevitability of getting wet and move out from my shelter, a complaining squirrel makes its escape from the branches via the potting-shed roof. I must also make my escape in order to prepare for the morning's MM Links Game.

It starts with an intro at 8:45am (in Q&P) followed at 9:00 by the four link words to be matched. This month's game is being set by 'The Ice Queen' (aka OntIce) from her palace in Canada. Every answer has a word length from 4 to 8 letters and after each link is detected, bonus points are available for the following two minutes. The best advice then is to get in early for the best chance of those bonus points. The game ends at 7pm Sunday.

Very good tearinghair....just try and keep off the magic mushrooms! :-)
Or share them with us...
You're more than welcome tearinghair, just keep away from PW she is a bit lethal with her strimmer !
Kay is a long time getting that wine!
Sounds you could die of thirst Pauline, thought Kay was non drinker!!!
Good evening Pauline, Jan, Kay and Tearinghair.and anyone else there
Haven't been in the shrubbery for some time now - seems much the same as it used to be (empty bottles etc)
Hope you are all keeping well, I have still kept up to date with everything by reading the posts on here most weekends.
Plenty of weeds in here. If we had a pair of tights we could make dandelion and burdock? (to strain the liquid through when we've jumped up and down on the dandelions)
Better bring some tights with me, although I don't fancy jumping up and down in bare feet!
Why did I suggest that? I don't even like dandelion and burdock! I remember it from the days when it used to be made by Corona (do they still exist?) in bottles with funny tops that kept the fizz in.
If strix posted some of his dance tunes we could dance on the danylions
I remember that too, those funny little tops on the bottles. We used to take them off and play whip and top with them/ Gosh thats going back!!
Think he has gone to feed the horses or gone to bed Jan!
Yes I remember those Corona drinks. We used to have a guy delivering the different flavours every Saturday afternoon. I think my kids used to like the dandelion and burdock - from what I remember it went down well with a drop of scotch
Yes we used to have a guy on a Friday afternoon and there were different flavours. My grandfather was a bottle blower in his youth and used to blow the bottles for lemonade etc.
I loved dandelion and burdock! I also remember the corona man...my brother used to pinch his bottles and take them back to him for the money back, until my Dad caught him!

I liked cream soda as well....
Good to see you x-ray!
You should have just seen the efforts here, Kay and I trying to open a bottle of wine with an antique cork screw. She had to take it to a neighbour to do!
Think my favourite was limeade. Good with crisps (in a packet with a little blue twist of salt). Oh dear, sorry, getting all nostalgic this evening.
What is she like?! I am surprised she even has a cork screw.. By the way what was your cake?
Sat on the pub doorstep whilst the adults went in!
This wine is very nice, and I don't drink but it's very more-ish. Have run up and down so many times I must have lost a few pounds. Murphy has just settled on his bed up here and now I am going back downstairs and he will follow me.....he doesn't know what's going on tonight !!
