So parents are breathing a sigh of relief because the kids are back at school. Some drying their eyes after taking their little ones to school for the 1st time. Lots of kids that age know what they want to be when they grow up but will they actually think like that when they come of age. What did you want to be when you were young and what have you ened up doing? ;-)

Wanted to be : Nurse or Doctor or Social Worker.

Writer.

Became: I work in the medical profession but not as a professional.
I take lots of photographs.
I still want to be a writer.

I wanted to be, variously, a nurse, a doctor and a flight attendant.

I became a recruitment consultant, MD of my own company and then an interior designer. I hope to end up with my own restaurant one day.

I wanted to work on the tills in the big shops where mum brought her groceries. I've acually worked in various admin roles in the NHS since I was about 23 I think, I'm 31 now... Christ that's a long time! Anyway, the last few years I've been a medical PA in Andrology and most recently Child Safeguarding (child protection).

Kids have gone back in Scotland - various areas from Monday onwards, think the last areas went back today. Mine went on Tuesday.

I wanted to be a dancer - now work in financial services - well, I do have two left feet so there wasn't much chance!

Rowan.. I wanted to be an actress too. I was Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz when I was 11, but lost my confidence when I got to my massive secondary school.

Me too. I played Mary in the sunday school play (made a dramatic entrance when I tripped over my long blue dress and dropped Baby Jesus). Then I was a witch in some fairytale thingy - my papier mache nose kept falling off. I was Alice in Wonderland, for one appearance (understudy).

I was destined for Oscardom and Stardom. I am still awaiting Destiny.
