Which wag said of the tuba "It is an ill wind that nobody blows good" somebody has already said Sir John Barbirolli but I wouldn't describe Barbirolli has a wag. Any ideas please.

doing a google on this the phrase generally refers to the oboe (and occasionally the recorder) not the tuba. I can find a reference to Ogden Nash making the comment about the oboe (and Danny Kaye in the Secret Life of Walter Mitty) but no reference to anyone making the comment about the Tuba.
