I am very worried because they're not interested in people like me who have done the right thing, worked all my life in engineering for companies that exported around the world, earning money for this country, paid my taxes, never claimed benefits, saved in a pension scheme for my old age. They only seem bothered about the latest minority interest groups who shout the loudest, public sector workers,  professional benefit claimants and asylum seekers. It is people like me who will be bled dry to finance those above.

and how are you doing under the present government, if say you fall ill or are burgled?

The money will always come from those who have it.The noose is tightening..welcome to the club:-)

The complacent will find out when it happens.

I am worried for people like you dave and me dave that are just starting out. I am old enough and secure enough for it to make no difference. I have already structured my affairs to take advantage of the innevitable inflation and high interest rates. It's younger people trying to do the right thing that willl find this hard. Fewer and fewer people paying for more and more work shy scum, immigrants and government folly. Tax rises are innevitable. Anyone under 50, even those that think they are Labour supporters, who have never experienced what real labour does will be in for a shock.

Yes I am worried.  And I don't like the present Tory government either and the liberals are dreadful as is the Green Party.  So I do worry for the country.  Labour still stands at the bottom of my dislikes though.

Tora. Don't faint, but I agree.

....and don’t forget that you are being bled dry by this government with the highest tax burden on record.

Perhaps it would help to recap where things stand after 13 years of the Tories.

NHS, pretty much on it's knees.

Police too busy to bother investigating crime.

Local councils going bankrupt.

Roads full of potholes.

Ever increasing illegal immigration.

Rivers and beaches full of sewage.

Army smaller than it's ever been. Aircraft carriers that don't have any planes. Nuclear deterrent testing looking a bit embarrassing.

Have I missed anything?

So, er no. I'm not particularly worried.

And don't forget that Starmer 'took the knee' for gangster & thoroughly bad egg, George Floyd, as well  as attempting (& succeeding) in influencing the speaker of the House.

I personally don't think he's fit to run a whelk stall let alone the country.

Yes, I'm worried.

tomus, all of those trhings would be worse if Labour had been in power through the recent spate of world crises. Can you imagine Abacus and Cobstello running the country? You moan about our forces and I agree we need to spend a lot more but labour hate defence, police etc under them we'd barely have enough to guard buck house!

It’s going to take some considerable achievement by Labour to run the country worse than the Tories have for the last 13 years.

It’s going to take some considerable achievement by Labour to run the country worse than the Tories have for the last 13 years.

I have a feeling that they'll give it a go, in any case....

Then you don't have to vote for either of them, vote Reform UK.

Most people have no experience of a real Labour governement in this country. A rude awakening beckons for them.

But as you are continually telling us Tora, Labour haven't been Labour since Tony Blair*, so what are you worrying about.

*excepting the Corbyn hiccup, who never had a chance of governing anyway.

I Think it's about time for the Tories to get rid of the present PM and vote in another faliure ,but they had better hurry ,else they could have another short term PM serving only a couple of weeks longer than Truss..🤣

I think Starmer's Labour is nothing like Blairs Thatcherite new Labour, aka Tory Lite. I would count it as real Labour, Starmer is sitting atop a hidden cabal of anti semites and hard line socialists an asssorted loonies. Socialists hate prosperity they love income tax most of which is paid by the poorests workers, the ones they claim to represent. Be afraid be very afraid.

TTT – You (and most ABers) have no need to be afraid of a Labour government increasing taxes, since most is paid by the poorest workers.

13:26 You just don't get it hymie. Everything you say assumes we are all like you and have opinions only for our own selfish reasons. Indeed to won't effect me but it will effect our country and young people trying to make their way in the world. It will effect their ability to buy a house bring up children etc. Fewer and Fewer willl have to support more and more people with less and less money.
