after sturgeon i think snp voters maybe feeling less then happy with the party, corruption cronyism wastage pet projects etc.
If you cast around, fender, it's pretty much the same with the other major parties too.

To answer the main question though, it was never really on, just a job creation exercise for the workshy and unemployable.
He's probably sensibly realised that if they had another vote now they would lose. Recent shenanigans will have lost them credibility.
They'll be back.
There never was going to be an"independent"Scotland anytime soon,3T.Especially since we have to rely on you English taxpayers to finance our work-shy unemployables.No English taxpayers funding us,no independent Scotland.Not for a long time now anyway.
