I've never finished this early before - but it was my era!

Snap! But although it was my era I was a fan of a different genre.
It was very much my era too - I think we follow this thread as it is unusual to see Warden begin a thread while A Hearer is the first past the post so often. Lovely endgame, thank you Nudd.
I agree - a very nice endgame. It took me a while to resolve some of the extra letters which held me up a fair bit. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Likewise, Warden. It takes me back...
Yup, nice and gentle, accurate clueing and a really good theme. Thanks Nudd!
I'm very happy with Ruthrobin's suggestion. No point in calling in the third umpire!
Some wonderful clues, perhaps on the easy side, but never ever boring. Delightful endgame, very much my time, but not my style. Thanks Nudd for a nostalgic trip.
Lovely puzzle with a very pleasing and unexpected endgame.

Only one minor nit. The grid-shading instruction disagrees with the mise en scène that is explicitly described in the work. Check for yourself!

fyellin - yes, great spot!
Nice and gentle after last week's mental workout. This was a very clever piece of grid construction and the clues were fun and scrupulously fair. A lucky guess gave me the theme very early on.

I'll probably get flamed for saying this but I'll be honest - I can't stand the theme's subject. All the same I enjoyed the puzzle; thanks Nudd.
Well spotted, fyellin -- it must have taken off!
To be fair to the setter, Fyellin's inconsistency isn't in the grid sharing instruction, it's built in to the original design....
I had finished before the thread was started but (a) I vaguely feel that only more worthy people should start a thread and (b) I don't know how to start a thread anyway. Really good fun, lots of easy clues - a relief after last week where I crawled over the line on Tuesday having given up three times along the way. I had spotted fyellin's slight niggle, which as (s)he says, is quite clear. Anyway, thanks to Nudd, I enjoyed this one.
Z Cup please.
PDM before any clues solved; a bit of a grind.
We enjoyed Nudd's previous contributions a lot more.
Childishly pleased with my final grid. Thanks Nudd
A nice gentle one for a change, which suits me fine. Although brought up with the thematic material, I'll readily confess to never having heard of the central two works. Neat construction and the endgame is unambiguous and close enough to the theme for me. Thanks Nudd.
Oh no, upsetter -- I'm sure the Z Cup requires a more curmudgeonly response than that.
fyellin: If you are referring to the 'XXX of YYYYY' then YYYYY is the name of the XXX and not a descriptor; so the grid-shading instruction is not inconsistent. If you Google the full name of the work, any image you find will confirm Nudd's construction.
@TheBear69: Interesting. You are right that many images show Nudd's construction, but other images show various colors.

I don't see why you think that this is a name. All printed versions that I've seen are clearly "xxx of yyyyy" and not "Xxx of Yyyyy".

In any case, don't take this too seriously. Just proving that sometimes my brain is too filled with useless trivia. And now I have an ear worm I can't get rid of.
I think I remember a map...
