Couldn't agree more Sandy - half way through my second of the morning.
Definitely, much better than all the ice cold drinks, for me anyway.
I used to live in hot countries, and found the answer was first a fast small hot drink, followed by a long slow cold one.
Hot weather?
Where?
Complete cloud cover here
Wind blowing the curtains and causing open door to bang
Naaaah!..I am sure the physiologists and "back room boys" will come up with some "cock and bull" research which will show that a "cuppa tea" will cool you down more than an nice ice cold drink.

Rubbish! if it is hot in the sun, or anywhere else for that matter, then an ice cold drink is the answer.
Can anyone remember the film "Ice Cold in Alex?"
John Mills after facing the heat of the North African desert, finally staggering into Alexandria, did not ask for a "nice cuppa" but an ice cold drink of beer.
I think it is something many of us were brought up hearing but the science has disproved it.

My view is drink whatever makes you personally feel cooler or more hydrated.
I think that those in the "Scientific Know" know all about the TRPV1 receptor and it's mechanism in the body regarding hot drinks cooling us down. Hot drinks do cool you down quicker but cold drinks are more refreshing and to the poster quoting from a film, seriously? The body would have been gagging for electrolytes and water not a dehydrating poison but it was a film and I guess he just wanted to get *** especially if he was from the uk.
poor DaisyNonna where are you ?
Broseph.

\\\\\The body would have been gagging for electrolytes and water\\\

LOL...I thought that the "boys" would be along shortly....BEER has a plentiful supply of carbohydrates AND electrolytes........what more could you want?

But i agree he would not a better supply of fluid than beer, as beer is dehydrating (after a time)

Never heard of it and i don't intend to Google it.
i've been tidying the garden and just come in for a cuppa ,sweating like a pig lol
Me too mallyh, was dividing and replanting polyanthus and the heat is overpowering. Having another cuppa and a wee rest before tackling the rest.
I`ve just had a cup of hot soup and it hasn`t cooled me down - it just made me sweat like mad. I`d rather have a nice pina colada
No idea. But an icy cold beer is working for me.

Are electrolyte tablets worth buying or are they just another modern version of snake oil?
When I was in the Army, and we went on a route march in warm/hot weather, there was usually a mug of steaming tea waiting for us at the end of it. We were told that the tea would make us sweat, and afterwards we would feel somewhat cooler. It seemed to work!
No, just makes me hotter. A nice cool long drink for me.
No, makes me feel even hotter, a very cold drink for me thank you !
Yes...a soothing cup of oolong always does it for me Sandy !
Nothing like a few mulled wobbly-pops to assuage my thirst and to vanquish the sweat from my weary brow.
