I've just slipped on ice and I'm in severe pain.

I must admit I'm liking the music. Thank you Slinky Kate.

ooh Diz...ice pack..frozen peas
Depends where you hurt, dizmo. My OH fell on ice three years ago and broke his kneecap - a definite A&E job.
Paracetamol and ibuprofen regularly

they should be oK unless you have been told during your latest admission you should use something else ( and then take that )

We're talking coughing up blood sort of job. I got away with it earlier this month but I'm not sure I can get away with it this time. I think I've possibly ruptured something.
if you are coughing up blood
you should ring 111
and they will arrange an ambulance
I generally carry on regardless. Severed a tendon in my finger last year. I worked all day then went to the hospital at night.
Question Author
It's really difficult because I'm on so many drugs. Anyone else been in this position?
diz.you need to get to hossie ...if you are bringing up blood 999 NOW !
I slipped on ice a few days ago, thankfully landed on my side but got a shock it happened so quickly. I'm sure you'll have suitable painkillers - I took some codeine phosphate and it made me feel sick and dizzy so I took ibuprofen and rubbed some arnica cream on the bruises.

See I think Talbot has it right. I can't really call 111. I know it's a cyst and surely if it was really bad then I'd be in a far worse state?
If you're coughing up blood, then get to A&E - don't waste time on here.

Retrochic: I'm on Tramadol and Oxycodone (oxycontin). The Oxy is twice the strength of morphine. It's slow release medication. I don't want to go back into hospital, I'm sick and tired of being there. I was coughing in blood a few weeks back and I haven't been great since but I've got by.
What did you land on? Surely coughing up blood has nothing to do with the fall unless you landed ON something like a fence?
Question Author
boxtops: I've been in this position before so I'm hoping that I can pass the time on here and save going into hospital.
I slipped on black ice many moons ago. I tore the ligaments in my right knee and ended up flat on my back in an empty car park at six on a Boxing day morning.

The hound looked down at me and I asked him to go for help. He wasn't too bright so he didn't.

It took months to get rid of the pain and it still twinges every now and again.

The hound (Robbie) never learned how to do a "Lassie".

Retro: I landed on a curb edge on me left side. It did hit my chest but I don't know if enough to cause that damage. My cyst is also on my left flank.
dIZ..You NEED to get it checked.....get to hossie....
Dizmo -ouch! get checked out at A&E if you can get there
Dizmo you are being dizzy

if you are coughing up blood it is always abnormal
and no , it is NOT due to your cyst

and yes you should ring 111 - I did for myself a few weeks ago, its not a bad service.
Question Author
Oh *mans testicles* :/ I can't do that. I've took more meds and the pain is going away slowly.

Maybe I should of just gone to bloody hospital at the start, but I'm home and I'm still here so, yeah :)
