Just back from the Lake District, and called at Waberthwaite, where the Woodall family have made super bangers ham and bacon for generations.

They hold a Royal Warrant from QE II in fact.

In the pub down the road - the Brown Cow - they are proud of Woodalls, and gave me the sad news that old Mr Woodall is ill, and has had to sell the name, but not the secret recipes.

A Yorkshire company is now selling "Richard Woodall" and "Woodalls" pork products. I bet HRH isn't eating them any more.

The original product is still being made by the remaining staff and family, under the brand of "R B Woodall" They are very good indeed...
