The preamble says that many clues contain one word which must have a letter removed, and those remaining rearranged to form a new word before solving. Thanks for any heelp
As ever, blindingly obvious - once you know the answer.
And I had looked up different definitions of the two words, but I was trying to get them to relate to the royal title.
Many many thanks Never. I'm sure I would have been barking up that wrong tree all day. Or maybe just barking.
I've understood everything except how to highlight a "confused individual" - I assume the person to be highlighted is (7,11)? but don't understand how one is supposed to trace that in the grid. Presumably it begins at the third letter of 7d?
If you anagram your spare letters from the across clues you get this person's proper name. Clever!
I'm not so clever as, having completed the grid and highlighted the confused individual, I am now really struggling with what I should put under the grid. I'd love to solve this before I start tomorrow's puzzle. Help!!!
Indy-trier, you need the missing word that completes a set when added to the five you already have. The title of the puzzle is a cryptic indication of the word.
What bothers me is that I can't make much sense of the discarded letters from the DOWN clues.
Neither can I, Rabet. I'm wondering if I have some errors re the ones I've chosen as one of the early ones is a rather awkward J! I've made some sensible words from the last down letters but am still struggling.
