why do some people say "INNIT" at the end of every sentence when its not necessary innit!??

It's, like, to show they speak English, innit? And wot you lookin' at?
This very annoying habit is, I believe, mainly used by that horrible breed of underclass, the chav.

or as we call them in Newcastle charvers innit!
It's also widely used in Welsh English, usually as "is-ne?", with the "e" drifting off into silence. Related to incha, of course, as in "you gotta laugh, incha?"
I've got a lovely vase for my birthday but I don't know what to put in it.
In Oxfordshire they say it with a country twang resulting in 'Ennit' - they also say '........., boy' at the end of sentances.
It's a tag question coming from "isn't it?" or "is it not?". It's a feature of spoken language designed to make sure the listener's still awake and elicit a response.
I guess it's like Kiwi's saying 'ay', Ay?
