One of Jesus' disciples was called Thomas. When the others were told that Jesus had risen from the dead, Thomas didn't believe it and so the phrase "doubting Thomas" was born.
I think it's biblical. One of the disciples who doubted Jesus.
It was thomas the Apostle who wouldnt believe Christ had been resurrected until he saw the wounds from the Crucifixion
