did the song 'In the Jungle the mighty jungle' feature in the film the lion king. I thought that the whole soundtrack was Elton John original but i may be wrong

you are incorrect. Those lyrics came from the record by a band called Tightfit and the title was The Lion Sleeps Tonight, it was from the early 80s. The record from the Lion King is Can you feel the love tonight, song by Elton John.

It did appear in The Lion King film, the orginal version of the song was by The Tokens in 1961.


Timon sings a little snippet of the song a-cappella..obviously it's a routine they do often, as Pumbaa misses his part while he goes off sniffing for bugs :o)


The song is orignally Wimoweh but was covered by Tight Fit & re-titled 'Lion Sleeps tonight'.

Agree with pippa, it's definitely on my much-played Lion king tape.
