I was thinking at that very moment that a good reason NOT to use decilitres is the confusion with dekalitres...

a tenth of a litre wh is a hundred mls - or 100cc - but like decilitres and dekalitres we should NOT use ccs because of confusion ..

Kate put simply (I hope):-
1000 ml = 1 Litre
100ml =1 Decilitre
10ml = 1 Centilitre

A decilitre is 1/10 of a litre, a dekalitre is 10 litres. Because of possible confusion people tend not to use those terms; for decilitre we tend to say 100 ml.
