My ex works abroad alot and has a habit of bringing LOTS of coins home with him from various places and giving them to our 7yr old son and then we have a carrier bag full sitting around our house. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do with it all as it seems wrong to throw it all in the bin but I'm fed up of it hanging around.Either to exchange so I can buy my son something with it or to give to charity.

Many airlines have charity collection bags onboard for foreign coins. If his airline does, he can deposit them there either on his way into the UK or on the way out.

most airports have charity bins that are there for returning travellers to throw in their spare & left over change
Do kids collect coins these days? Anyway, I'd suggest that you try to get your son interested in them. Set up a collection for each country adding to it as he gets more. Get him to research the countries and learn about their history and geography etc..
Same problem. But are now some sites which will do it. Ask google. Also phone the head bank of country in question eg Euros; ask Bank of France see if you can pop in. Warning - all in City of London. Check value on line and if not much turf it. Also coins dead heavy and a nuisance.
