Thanks boxtops- i didn't expect any one to look in Phrases and Sayings this early in the day.
|
|
LOL, I didn't - you popped up in Latest Posts, that's where I saw you!
|

I'm not aware of me making that particular error but I could well see me doing such a thing, I know I make many errors, especially with punctuation and grammar. I know this is often due to my Dyslexia as I simply don't understand punctuation but I live with it, I think most people understand what I'm blabbing on about.

Indeed, ratter - I've always understood what you're on about - if you hadn't mentioned your condition, I wouldn't have known about it :-)

Ooh yes - so they are factor. Incidentally I wonder constantly and also wander quite a lot (in my mind I mean).
Never found any difficulty with your posts RATTER.

it's only airheads who wonder lonely as a cloud

To quote Tolkein:
Not all who w@nder are lost....
|

My winders need cleaning! I wonder who I can get to do it. I'll have a wander and see if I can find somebody!

if you want people to write, you need to let them express themselves as they normally speak, within reasonable limits. OK, I was just, I wonder etc are all polite verbal tics that ordinary people use to attract the listener's attention.
Wonder / wander, loose / lose are all commonly mixed up. Previous generations would have written like, I say, excuse me etc.
I expect there are quite a few people on AB with mutliple identities, but this is what underemployment and simple technology has done to our society.

There's definately a lot of mis-speling on AB.
|
|
Some would say there's alot...

I agree, mosaic- I know that when I ask questions on here I often use the expression " I was just wondering...". My main point was that I was surprised by how often 'wandering' was used instead of 'wondering'. As a teacher I notice a lot of common mis-spellings ('alot' instead of 'a lot', 'loose' instead of 'lose', 'of' instead of 'have', 'after' instead of 'have to') but I hadn't noticed wander/wonder until I came on AB.

could of..grrrrrr......

I don't think we should concern ourselves too much with the odd spelling or grammatical error, we do after all have the Scots Invigilator monitoring our every keystroke at all times.

I see you are doing my job of acting as The Spelling Police. I was about to correct factor30 but what is a few spelling mistakes between friends?

Hi JonnyBoy12- I know I make typos on here (e.g. i instead of I), and my keyboard sometimes misses letters out, but I can't work out what spelling mistake of mine you were going to correct.
