I send only to those I won't see over the holiday period and to my mother/sister although lots get e cards now receiving I think two weeks before is early enough certainly don't put them out on display before then
I don't think they should be sent before December. Preferably no sooner than 2 weeks before Christmas. They just make the house look a mess. As do xmas trees and other xmassy stuff!!!

I'll have to think carefully about the timing then.

(all in ref to this: http://www.theanswerb.../Question1076879.html )
Anywhere from the beginning of December is fine, anything before that's a bit weird I think:)
Bah Humbug ummmm
I only give Cards to those who are closest to me, fortunately this Year I have not received Xmas Cards in November which is a bit offputting !
I know :-)

I don't send cards either...
I dont give any, I prefer the personal touch, I just say "happy Xmas" It really is such a nonsense, yesterday I was given a stack of cards at work from the staff, they can all just say Happy Xmas and Im sure they will do, along with a little peck on the cheek if im lucky.

I wonder how many thousands of trees are felled every year to make these silly cards that will all be thrown in the bin a few days after Xmas, madness.

Bah Humbug!!!
anytime from early december is fine by me.
Cards for nearest and dearest only about 20th is fine.
Got my first one this morning but I don't usually post till two weeks before Christmas. Not sending any this year though.
I get some in November - friends abroad try to send them suface mail but they get popped on a plane and arrive the next day (PO permitting)
We received our first card yesterday.
Anytime in December is fine
I only buy one and that is given on the day with the presents.
i dont send xmas cards now.... i donate the cash to charity.. its a rip-off.
this year i've emailed those i have email addresses for, and put a note in with the others who get cards, to say this is the last year i'm sending any and to take me off their lists too. my money will go to cancer research instead.
i agree with ummmmmmmmm and would be very happy not to receive any cards at all, they just get in the way and i haven't actually put any up for about 5 years, they just sit in a pile in the kitchen. same with the tree but i can't get away with not putting that up...YET. i'm working on it though.
we cut out buying presents for anyone over the age of 12 last year and told everyone not to buy for us either.
so to answer your question Ed, it's not 'proper' for me to give or receive a christmas card at any time.
bah humbug.
