Slinte mhaith! meaning "Good health!" is a Gaelic phrase and I can't think on any other Scots drinking prhrase.
A wee dram is a Scottish euphemism for a shot of Scotch Whisky
I forgot about a half and half .
Pint of heavy hen!
A deoch-an-doruis is a last drink...ie one for the road.
Someone even invented the word 'clochandichter' to mean the drink before the one for the road!
'It must be your round!'
Whereas a Scottish drinking phase is usually just from birth to death.
To add to what TCL said, Slinte mhaith is often corrupted by non-Gaelic speakers who don't know any better to 'Slange Var'
'lang mae yer lum rique'
Reek = smoke and lum = chimney...hence, long may your chimney smoke. That is, literally, may you always have the means to buy fuel or, more generally, long may you prosper.
maxximus -I don't really want to contradict you here but I am fairly positive 'lang mae yer lum rique' actually means -Long may your chimney have smoke......as in may you be prosperous enough to afford fuel for your home fire !
Quizmonster -sorry I did not see your answer.....but would like to second it anyway.
"Here's tae us. Wha's Like us?"
"Damned few & they're a' deid!"
