I couldn't pay for a train ticket today so I had to fill out my information for a penalty faire but I panicked and used an old friends name and address but I used my card to pay the amount for the ticket. Obviously it was a different name so I said it was my friends card. I've made a terrible mistake and I'm very worried now, will I get away with this and what will happen to me if I don't? I don't talk to the person anymore and we are not friends btw, I just want to pay the faire and get it over and done with, how do I pay it and what will happen to me ?

If you've paid, then I would imagine that would be the end of the matter, and they would have no reason to contact the address you'd given. Why did you give someone else's address when you were in a position to pay by card?
You couldn't pay the fare then you did, do you mean you just didn't bother getting a ticket. You have commited an offence of attempting to pervert the course of justice, considered a serious offence.
The address is required for the sending of a penalty notice, on top of the ticket price.
Right contact the penalty office and tell them you just realised that as you are moving house this week, you gave them your address as it is at present but that you won't be there as of Tuesday so could they please ammend the address to your new one (real one)- that way if they do, you'll get the penalty fare at your address and if you pay it your previous associate will be none the wiser. Just do that, pay it, don't do it again and stop worrying, the sky really won't fall over this, just don't be so daft again, it's only a train ticket.

Very_scared, you said you've paid for the ticket already. I think that will be the end of it. Why would they send you a Penalty Notice for something you've already paid?

Cloverjo, some train companies issue a penalty notice when you pay the outstanding fare, others mail the penalty notice to you. You then have 28 days to pay it.

I don't think fare dodging is okay, but neither do I think it's okay to deliberately try to bully and frighten someone coming onto the law section for advice, and actually that's against Site Rules. Do you not realise how some people panic and blow things out of all proportion in their heads? People have attempted suicide over far less when they have made a stupid mistake and are frightened of the consequences. No you wouldn't think, you're far too self congratulatory for that, and I don't care what you think of me, and you wouldn't want to know what I think of you. Stop bullying people in the law section.
Sapel - do think Very_scared has made a big mistake - like us all.
Mr Alba has been getting the train for more years than he wants to admit, but he's aware of the faces of those who are fare dodging and those who have just leapt onto the train and have their fare in their hand.

Have no idea what happens to fare dodgers, sorry.
