Why are you asking on here? Who would know?
Dunno TWR, but I'll bet there will be some investigations.
UK car makers? Who do you mean Morgan?

Is this not the motoring page Ginge?
I think he means cars built in the UK, Eccles.
TWR...yes, it is. But I repeat...who on here would know the answer to your question?

Rephrase, car assemblers.
Surely you can't think that Bentley would do such a thing?

Oh, hang on ...
Bentley is foreign owned, isn't it?
Yes, sister cars to Porsche and Skoda...all VW brands.

If they can defraud the Public & build up their profits, any one of them are "capable of doing it" Hop
As Gingejbee points out, VW own Bentley.

I doubt if they do a diesel though.

///Bentley is foreign owned, isn't it?///

Indeed it is owned by VW!
I wonder when the government will re-adjust the road fund licence for affected VW's.
No only VW so far.
What happened is that someone found a way to put a extra piece of program in the engine management computer.
This program is very clever, it recognizes when the engine is going through an emission test . It can do this as the engine runs to a specific test pattern when it is being emission tested. As soon as the computer recognizes the test starting it switches the engine to a special 'clean' run program. As soon as the test stops the engine goes back to normal.
If you were a VW engineer & you knew your programmers had developed this , would you want other car makers to know and throw away your advantage? I think not. Of course it may be that an outside programmer has developed this and sold it to other car makers, but so far only VWs have been found to have it.
I am wondering how this will effect the London 'Low Emission Zone' ,only cars that have been certified as 'Low Emission' are permitted into the zone. At the moment VW are permitted but will that change?
I wonder if the Government's got the bottle to withdraw the type approval on the engines affected. That might concentrate VW's thoughts.
Eddie, the London low emission zone doesn't apply to cars.
Tonyav thanks your link makes it clear that this was a VW 'inhouse' job and they have tried to cover it up for over 2 years.
