....Cameron is heralding a Greater Britain.

If the past five years is anything to go by this means no doubt greater unemployment, greater numbers of soup kitchens, greater child poverty, greater Bankers' bonuses, greater wealth for Fat Cats, greater gap between rich and poor, greater gap between North and South, etc etc.

unemployment greater than...... what?
http://www.tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/unemployment-rate and use the graph tools to create the period in question. if you set a period 2007 to 2015, you can see the rate rocket from around 5% to 8-8.5%, where it stayed until the beginning of 2012; from where the general trend has been downwards to todays 5.5%. the forecast is for this to remain steady http://www.tradingeconomics.com/forecast/unemployment-rate

Oh you are cheerful Canary42!!!
He's in a world of his own - circa 1930.
Totally agree Canary, especially about the gap between rich and poor - spot on !
The result is out, put up with it canary, it can not be altered.
chaptazbru2, how can you totally agree when he’s wrong. Seems he’s not alone in his little 1930s world. You're there with him.
You are right Canary, but don't expect many on here to agree with you.

but Mikey, the trend in unemployment figures has been down for the past three years - so how can that be taken as a portent ("if the past 5 years is anything to go by") of a rising unemployment rate? is there some bougerre factor i needed to include? how does it work? can you explain please?
Oops. Three of you determined to cling to your delusions now.
No, just more jobs, better NHS low inflation, more house ownership, help with childcare and many more. Get used to it, I know you lot prefer a Nanny state. Milliband is a Trotski who followed his Fathers ideas about state ownership of everything.
Naomi...we are entitled to our view, as you are to yours. Kindly allow Canary and I, and the minority of Labour supporters on AB to have our express our opinions without too much ridicule.

The gap between the rich and poor always grows until a Tory Government, as it has over the last 5 years. I am not remotely ashamed, like some of your "shy" Tory supporters to continue to fight for what I believe is best. Unlike you, I won't be quitting when the going gets tough. I am not a "shy" Labour supporter, although you may already have noticed that !

Labour will regroup and come back to win, just like it did in May 1997, an occasion that even you have admitted was euphoric, and it will do so again.

It will come back and win just like the Tory Party did in 2010, although hopefully not without going through 3 Party Leaders, and three Elections in the way that the Tories did. There are those on here today that have voiced opinions that the Labour Party is finished for good, although I would not put you in that number.

But they are wrong.
Linda ...you comments about Miliband are ignorant and wrong.
BETTER NHS you must be kidding!!!
Mikey, You are entitled to your view, but you are blatantly supporting a lie – as mushroom has demonstrated.

And I’ve told you before – the going didn’t get tough for me. Continuing to support Labour simply became untenable – but perhaps I’m more honest with myself than you current Labour supporters can bring yourselves to be.

Divebuddy...your comments about places like Sunderland are ignorant.

So the Tories all live in "nice" places and Labour live in ratholes ! You are entitled to your view, but I am just as entitled to condem you when you spout nonsense like that.

Canary, when you say North, do you mean 'North of Watford' as a starting point?
DB...until last night, I have lived in a Labour constituency for 35 years, and it is far from being a "grim hole". In 1956, it became the first area in the United Kingdom to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This preceeded National Park status.

Your assumption that it is a "grim hole" is both daft and rather insulting to be honest, although I doubt you really meant it to be.
What's it like in 2015 Mikey ?
