My daughter was trying to fix a button on her dishwasher yesterday but forgot to unplug it. She had an electric shock and her thumb was bleeding so much that she went to a+e. She was given 6 butterfly stiches then was sent for an ECG. I've never heard of bleeding from an electric shock. She didn't cut her thumb on anything sharp as the dishwasher was empty. A google showed bleeding from the eyes but no where else. Any feedback please? tia
A shock can burn but not cause an open split wound like that. In the panic of it all she must have caught her thumb on something sharp on the dishwasher/button itself (I think)
Over the years I've seen many electrical burns but never any bleeding as has been suggested she must have caught her self on some thing sharp as she reacted to the shock
I agree. Electric shock causes a jerk reaction, often resulting in a wound from what the victim is holding or touching. Shame that she had the confidence to tackle such a job... without the brains to switch the juice off first!
I've connected myself to the mains loads of times over the years and never suffered any cuts (or, indeed, any burns). As others have indicated, there must be a different cause.
