Is there a way for me to view a FB message without the sender being alerted to me having viewed it?

Not that I am aware of. I wish there was though so that I don't feel obligated to reply to mine.

Thanks Daffy, I thought as much. I'll just ignore it and grumble to myself about the irritating function.
