Facebook Messages

Hi, didn't know where else to put this.

I seem to have lost the messages icon in Facebook. I wanted to see if I had any hidden messages as I had one before, but the icon isn't there. Does anyone know how to get it back?

On my new layout, it's one of the little icons down the left hand side of the screen

on the dark blue line you've got "your name"--find friends--home. my messages are on the left side of the home screen.

I've already looked on my home page at where everyone says it is, but it's not there. Very strange!
