It's So Frustrating....

That there is nothing we can do to stop these..."International"..calls.

I know I can just not pick up but I had umpteen yesterday...annoying when you're up a ladder...and today it's every twenty minutes or so.....and my internet crashes every time my phone rings....thanks BT.

These aren't the ones the leprechaun answers.....when I have picked up the international ones there is no-one at the other end.

Don't suppose I could report them as crank calls that are scaring me?....:-(

I've been getting these silent calls all week -at least three a day. Now I've stopped picking up calles that are flagged unavailable or with-held but that does'nt stop the mad dash from upstairs or in the garden to answer the phone . its so annoying

Like you say...you don't have to pick up but I bet if I ignore the phone alltogether it'll be the call from the care home.....x

I know genuine callers will leave a message.....and I don't pick up....it's having to come down a ladder or in from the garden every twenty or thirty minutes that's the nuisance.....

If I ignore completely I'll be thinking.....hmmm...cold call....care home...and I will have to check.

I do have TPS?? but can I block international cold calls and not international from friends and family abroad?

hi gness we were plagued with these calls and as we are responsible for three v. elderly people and daughter works shifts we always rushed to the phone. bought a new phone and blocked all international calls and also blocked all calls where a number was not left. working so far. good luck.

Hi, LadyJ....I looked at Ginge's link but think that I have to block all international call.

The daughter's work takes her to some odd countries and I like to hear from her....plus other people abroad.....and I don't really see why we should be doing that....

There must be a way for BT to stop them......or maybe it makes money for them somehow.....☺

as far as I know it might allow you to accept numbered (ie daughter and friends) international calls and just block the others. we got it from staples. yes, I know we could have got it cheaper elsewhere but we can always contact them if it goes wrong or there is something we don't understand.

Check the manual for your phone.There should be an item on blocking unwanted calls.

We have a phone on which we bar all international calls, but with a built in answer phone, if genuine our caller starts to talk knowing we will pick up and speak to them.

I was fed up with all the nuisance call i have been receiving so I have just bought a call blocker box from ebay £25.00 it allows you to block numbers manually, or even in the middle of the conversation with the nuisance caller by pressing the blacklist button and it cuts you off from the nuisance caller. It also allow you to block international calls, area codes and 0800, 0845 etc and withheld numbers. I have tried it out by blocking my mobile number and when i phoned all the caller gets is a couple of rings and it cuts off and they just hear a noise. My phone did not ring when i blocked my mobile it just shows up on the call blocker box that i had rung. If you block someone by mistake you can unblock them. It was well worth the money.
