I confess i was gob smacked by some of the things he did, like walking on the Thames, i still can't figure it out, other illusions were just as mind boggling

Troy is good too..
Yes he had his own show that was show'n on Saturday evenings not so long back. I thought he was amazing.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but I HATE them both with a passion - far too many gimmicks for my liking. Give me good ol' sleight of hand anytime, over VERY expensive gimmicks .... and that is mainly what these people use.
Don't get me wrong, the gimmicks are very clever, but that's all they are - gimmicks. most of their tricks can be fathomed out if you apply logic to them - the one on the Thames is dead easy ......
Fast forward to 3 mins 10 seconds, emmie

Thanks for posting emmie, i've just caught the last half hour and recorded it. he is brilliant!
They're all explained on the Internet too.
Question Author
so did i, he did so many tricks, not sure whether that's the right word, illusions would be better, one where he met two ladies, this was some award ceremony, red carpet thingy, he took both by the hands, paused, then let go, and fell back and back until he was almost touching the ground, without falling over, i really can't explain it, but it was spectacular
He's quite good, but i don't think he has the charisma of some of the others. He hasn't done anything that David Blaine hasn't done. But, i think, once you've seen Derren Brown, the rest are ruined.
...... and here's a rant I had on here a while ago:

Question Author
stephen, i understand it's an illusion, but i am going to keep it intact, like reading the end of a book, without reading the rest.
His sleight of hand is phenomenal
I saw that one, emmie, great how he does that slow motion falling over backwards.
Question Author
i am not generally into this sort of magic, and haven't see any of Derren Brown's work
He has something up the back of the trouser leg which keeps him balanced. Emmie, i think Derren Brown is a genius. He admits he doesn't do magic and isn't psychic, but it's all psychological. Very clever and very entertaining. Been to a live show of his- and it's just as impressive. Try "An evening of wonders" often repeated on Sky, and see what you think.
You need to watch Derren Brown - he's the real McCoy.
I have one of his DVD's, but I would never consider buying Dynamo's or Troy's. When I say DVD, by the way, I mean instructional material, as I perform "magic" myself .... mainly cards :)
Question Author
don't have sky, but if he is on another time, i will look in
Giz- if you're still there- my 10 year old is very into magic. The youth part of the magic circle all seems to be based in London. Do you know of any other clubs that are more national?
He could join a magic forum - I'm registered with http://talkmagic.co.uk/
so I can vouch for that one :)
Just remember though, we don't discuss how tricks are done, etc. We simply help with routines, etc and point you in the right direction as to how to go about learning certain moves/tricks by advising what books, DVD's are best to buy.
Thank you, giz. I'll look into that for him x
emmie, do you have watch? It's on now x
Question Author
what side, as i said i don;t have sky
Ok. I don't know about Freeview or others, but the channel is called "Watch". If you just have terrestrial, I'll keep an eye out.
