If the Scottish referendum results in a vote for independance and, for whatever reason, neither the pound sterling nor the euro can be used, what would be your suggestions for a name for the new currency?

The Groat. Was a name for a coin years ago and I think the word also has something to do with porridge.
I like Bawbee
Aye, a sporran full of bawbees has something of a ring to it.
It certainly does sandy :o)
Whereas a sporran full of cooked porridge wouldna make a sound :-)
In that event, they already print their own notes so why would it not be the Scottish Pound ? Anyway I suspect the lure of the Euro might win out.
You wouldn't want soggy oats slorpping around in yer wee bag though sandy
sandy, I love your sense of humour.
It'll be called "the great pointless pillock" or Salmond for short.... ;)
Cannedgranny, thank you.
I was thinking of putting a piece together and taking it to the fringe at the Edinburgh Festival. Would porridge go down well? Jokes about porridge, I mean. :-)
Perhaps you would be better off sticking to haggis sandy.
I like. ..... Turkish Lira
because the unit will be worth one......

(Wharton has a thread on this.... )
