If Nigella had looked for employees in the classified advertisements section of The Lady would this unhappy imbroglio she's found herself in ever have happened?

I'm amazed they've got off - but I still don't understand why.
Perhaps she did just that.

If she did then it goes to show you can't get domestic staff now for love nor money
Question Author
* decent domestic staff^
They weren't domestic staff were they? I bet they didn't do the cooking and cleaning.

They were a bit like Majordomos, I think.
I thought they were PA's. Maybe I've got it wrong.

More likely I've got it wrong. I didn't follow the case very closely. What sort of references do you think they will get?
The one sister worked for Nigella as a nanny/au pair while she with her first husband.
When Nigella married Saatchi she carried on working for them and her sister was also employed - they worked as au pairs/nannies/housekeepers/PAs
with carte blanche to spend spend spend, so they did.
Assuming the verdict is correct and they were falsely accused of being on the fiddle, you really can't blame them for defending themselves to the hilt.

In my opinion this is all because Saatchi threw his dummy out of the pram - and it has spectacularly backfired.
according to the news earlier it was Nigella who brought the action not her ex husband.
Charles Saatchi is worth in excess of £120m; Nigella over £20m.

The reality is this case is similar to me taking my cleaner to court for nicking £30.
A total waste of time.
the report said he wanted to brush the matter under the carpet whilst she did not, who knows, it could well have damaged her career, at least in USA.
over half a million isn't a small amount of money.
£685,000 is 3.4% of Nigella Lawson's total wealth. What percentage of your wealth is £30 ? Is your total wealth only a bit over £100, hc ?

The figure involved, spent by these two women , is substantial. If someone took Tesco or Royal Dutch Shell for £685,000 , these companies being vastly richer than Nigella Lawson, would you say that they shouldn't be prosecuted and the company should forget about it?
the company might forget about it, though, FredPuli, out of embarrassment.
^ bit under £100 not over £100^. I'd never make it as an accountant.

There's a case here where a chap seems to have been treating the vault of the Ulster Bank as his own private money box, to the tune of half a million. The bank didn't seem in any hurry to act.

It wasn't just Nigella that was paying the household bills though. Saatchi was, too.
