It's dangerous full stop!

Its pretty bad now, who knows what will happen when the old fellow dies.
If, as the report says, twenty-five white farmers were murdered in May and there are sixty murders each day in South Africa, what about the other 1,800 who were murdered last month? How many white farmers are there in South Africa as the figures may just be proportionate?
dont worry it wont be long before the blacks are fighting each other and will have turned the place into another african tin pot third world khazi.
Its what they do best

Zimbabwe anyone !?
Do you think that, maybe this time next century, humans will have stopped killing each other? Do you think that we will ever learn how to live with verbal wars only? Man's inhumanity to Man (and all other creatures).
yeah that worked so well in Rhodesia didn't it chillyq!

Mandela hasn't ruled in South Africa for nearly 15 years. He belongs to the same era as Thatcher, they were about at the same time.

Just as it would be ludicrous to suggest that the UK will descend into chaos because Thatcher has died, it is daft to predict South Africa will when Mandela dies.

There is still a large disparity between the wealthy and the poor. The minority white population still have most of the wealth. Which increases the chance they will be targeted for robbery.
Ok if I must spell it out...
"I think it's time we just packed up, said sorry, gave them back what's theirs and leave them to their own devices" - yeah that always works doesn't, no matter where they start they always turn it into a sh!t h0le, QED, Rhodesia, that's my point.
Well I live in Zimbabwe and yes it is a challenge but you don't go round fearing for your life every second. We make a plan and get on with our lives and leave the politics to those that deserve them
Brinjal - were you born there? Is it more dangerous than in the UK? I live in a relatively safe area of the country (and for that I am grateful) but some places seem to be like war zones.
Mandela was in jail till 1990, MrsT was not in power then, not sure how they are the same era gromit. I don't think Mandela's death is relevant to the breakdown in South Africa, that's been going on slowly since 1994, it edges ever closer to anarchy and chaos I don't think Mandela's death will effect that.
I would beg to differ on who has the bulk wealth gromit. And the blacks are not known for their charitable nature so they hold on to what they have and aren't shy to display the ostentatious trappings of their wealth. I think the labour unrest, drop in the gold price etc is going to have more to bear on the economy than Mandela.
No I wasn't born here but have lived here for 36 years. I saw the tale end of smiths rule, and have seen the steady decline of the country due to greed and corruption. Living in town we have a fairly normal day to day life. Yes you do have to be wary of your surroundings so that you don't get robbed at the traffic lights or at home at night. We do live behind large walls with electric fences rapid response alarms and do have weapons in the house but it not everyday and not rioting on the streets. With elections coming up the people in the rural areas with face intimidation and violence but the is the African way and nothing is going to change it.
Brinjal - are things getting better? Is there more racial harmony (not the right word) these days?

I will stay in Scotland - much safer.
Other than mugabes campaigne against whites there isn't open hostility. I think that the masses know that things are better working for a white boss or have morse chance of begging a dollar off a white than black but it is their country and they have the right to govern themselves and you get the government you deserve.
Brinjal. While things are improving in SA, the gap in wealth is still huge.
In 2008 per capita income was:

Whites R75 297
Coloured R16 527
Asians R51 457
Blacks R9 790 for blacks.

While a white person makes R100 a black person makes R13.
If you are to average out monthly incomes those figures may be appropriate and yes there are some whites that are very wealthy and there are a lot more whose monthly wage would be closer to R16000.00 and some who don't make 9000. And the same goes for the African. Yes the African population is much larger so it stands to reason that more will be employed in lower income jobs but two people working together in a company doing the same job on the same grade will receive the same income the law provides for that except of you are a woman. You can't employ two people one black and one white to do the same job and pay them differently.
Brinjal

In England, we have a minority black population and a majority white one. I can assure you, that the average minority black person in England does not make 7 times what the white person earns.
