Is it me , or has anyone else noticed a distinct change of tone , by Johm Humphrys , when interviewing ministers in the current government , on the today programme - i.e almost a cudly manner

He used to be decidedly robust and confrontational , when interviewing members of the previous administration .

Has the BBC had a word in his ear or is he showing a personal bias

Now come to think of it I have noticed a less confrontational side to JH bit then its really just silly season in politics at the moment

Humphrys has ALWAYS had "a personal bias", at least ever since the BBC and specifically his own Today programme was slated by the Hutton Inquiry. As I said on AnswerBank once before, I swear he'd have found an excuse to raise the topic of Iraq and his anti-Labour views on it even if he'd been interviewing Archbishop Desmond Tutu on elk-migration in Alaska!

In my opinion JH was frustrated by the inability of Labour ministers to even attempt to answer a reasonable question and so gave them a hard time. So far, the new lot seem to be more open and thus do not get the full JH treatment.

No, just that before he was interviewing a bunch of shisters. It was easy picking

He is now regularily asking questions , where the answers given are ' easy pickings '
( as you put it ) and should clearly be challenged - however he is just letting the interviewee off lightly .
