Jake, after what he did to that poor child i dont think innocent will is a word that could be used to describe him.Scum pure Scum!!!!
No it seems that us ab'ers are generally an angry bloodthirsty mob complete with burning torches and sharpened pitchforks! In all honesty everyone was right about Huntley, Jackson, Glitter and other assorted monsters so lets just bear with them and see where this goes.
I'd be very surprised if he's *not* guilty of these offences, actually.
However, there is a trial to be held first and then we shall see what we shall see. He has a tragic, wasted life whatever the outcome but unless he seeks and end to it himself, we'll just have to come to terms with living on the same planet as him.
so flyboy

You don't believe our court system system should operate on innocent until proven guilty then

Is that in general? or only in cases where you have been whipped up into a self-righteous vengeful fury by the toads in the media

I mean please correct me if you have any connection or knowledge of this you didn't gain from TV or the Newspapers

Information that would even begin to put you in a position to make in impartial judgement

Or do you not do impartial?
I can`t understand why prison warders don`t turn a blind-eye when someone gets to these evil swines, or if they attempt suicide, then let em do it. Think of the cost to the taxpayer for a change.
Be even cheaper if we just did away with trials altogether wouldn't it Carlton?
What would you feel if it was your child whom got murdered Jake? Not so self righteous then I`ll bet.
Jake.....he is guilty. Even if they find him innocent of this crime he is still guilty of torture and murder.
Jake he is scum plain and simple how can you be impartial towards this evil little Snag he does not desevre to be treated with compation or impartiallity for what he did !!!
carlton- If it had been my child, I'd have wanted him peeled and then slowly rolled in salt. But it wasn't........nor yours (unless your name is Bulger) which is why other, dispassionate folks get to make decisions in these sorts of circumstances.
Also.....with the amount of money that has been spent on his new identity there is no way they would put that at risk if there was a chance he was innocent.
Possibly not flyboy

Thats why we have independants not victims sitting in the jury box

You seem to have a real problem differentiating between justice and vengence

Too mant Hollywood films perhaps?
Was he born evil?
There is no evidence to suggest that there is an "evil gene"
So what has made him evil?
It can only be his environment during his early years and can you blame him for that?
How did he get child pornography whilst being under "correction?" This is "child" pornography not the common or garden bog standard pornography.
It would seem to me that corrective punishment has been totally ineffective and should be reviewed.

No I do not know the answer.
Jake you must be a great person to be around if you think any ounce of him is good ooh and by the way i've sat on a jury ,,very enjoyable i must say xx
Jake, I roundly applaud your efforts to provide a voice of reason as the usual tiradem sweeps through the AB, as it always does when emotive issues like this are raised.

Flyboy - you are allowing your emotional response to the cruel death of an innocent child to prevent you from seeing this situation in the only way that we - as memoers of society - should, which is with the belief that our justice system will prevail and punishment, if appropriate, will be forthcoming.

I find the notion that we execute people because their life is a drain on the public purse to be chilling in the extreme.

Stop spenidng money on nuclear weapons to save money? Fine. Executing individuals on the basis that they don't deserve to live, nased on base instinct and media hype - I don't think so.
Where has *anyone* said that he has an ounce of good ?!?!
JtP and I are merely rational enough to debate the issue without recourse to flaming torches and pitchforks or the tar barrel and a bag of feathers.

It would be nice if he was removed from society to a place of safety for *all* our sakes...
JTH/JTP

/////Where has *anyone* said that he has an ounce of good ?!?! /////

Is there any reliable evidence to suggest that he has " an ounce of good?" How does one measure "good".
The only evidence we have is that of "evil", so this is easier to debate.
in my opinion he shouldnt have even been let out in 2001. he should still be in jail.
Sqad - I was replying to flyboy1664. "....... if you think any ounce of him is good ..."

The nature/nurture theories on the 'development of evil' are many and often contradictory. What *are* established facts are that Venables killed a small defenceless child in a truly horrible manner; that we do not have the death penalty in this country.
What remains to be established is whether Venables is guilty as charged with these latest offences. (I rather think he is..........)
Jack....my mistake.
