we were going to visit our very prem grandson in hospital dusty, we took a country road that was full of bends, Bill is a careful driver, but when we came to a bend in the road, some boy-racer overtook another car on the bend, Bill had to swerve violently, there was blue smoke coming off this idiots tyres,,,someone was watching over us that day ♥
Not very dramatic, but the bus fares in my area have recently gone up, but i havent used the bus for weeks possibly a couple of months, so i was unaware and 5p short. Luckily, the person behind me gave me the extra 5p i needed.
dusty...yes. Many, many years ago I woke up in bed after a party with a huge, I mean huge, woman. I managed to sneak out of the bed, out of the flat with my shirt and socks in my hands and my trousers just about on.
not such a narrow escape but just chance maybe. I had been invited out along with my mate with a couple we knew to go to a wildlife park for the day. Was day after my brthday so always took that day off work. In the end though I decided I wanted to go shopping with my birthday money so my mate came there with me instead. Following day we heard the couple had burnt to death in a head on car crash driving back from the park.
It does make me wonder why people say they were "lucky" when things like this happen.

I remember hearing about a man who had been bitten by a shark and the shark had just left a small mark after the man had fought it off. The reporter said, "That was lucky"! Well, I'm glad I'm not as lucky as that.

To have fallen through a railing and nearly died doesn't class as being lucky in my book.
how come his ears saved him but not his shoulders?
Too many to mention....

It's not lucky either....as the police woman told me. The woman who didn't attract his attention was lucky...
A few years ago my sister and her husband were in a road accident when a driver in a Ford Escort came round a bend on the wrong side of the road, and smashed into them head on.
The couple in the Escort were killed outright and the police said that my sister would have been dead if she hadn't been in a Range Rover.
In Kandahar, I was outside having a smoke when a rocket attack came in. I heard the things fling overhead and hit the dirt, there was a massive boom, and a shockwave as one of the rockets detonated nearby. After the all clear I returned to my bedspace to find it had been shredded by shrapnel. If I had of had an early night that night then i'd have ended up looking like swiss cheese!
you were lucky, Bob. Its not a good look

Being booked on the marchioness for a riverboat disco the saturday after it sank......
A couple of weeks ago I replied to a post from mrs chappie about operations, which caused her to have a little laugh, but the serious side of the operation that caused her laughter was that it resulted from a snapped haulage chain on the coal face. Somebody was on my side that day as all I got was a banged up leg and 4 months on the club, while similar accidents have been fatal
