my friend is applying for a british passpoert
its a renewel
her husband is irish
he has a new passport
which he got free
his wife got a letter from the passport people
saying that she has to pay 77 pounds
for her british passport
are they correct
have they an error
they are thinking all over 65
passports are free

irish passports are free for over 64s
a british passport costs £77.50 whether it be a renewal, a replacement or first one. as far as i can see, there is no reduction for over 65s.

she is 75
he is 72
so both are right then. being from Ireland his passport is free. Being a UK resident hers costs.
