yes, our soldiers don't have enough to do at the moment. Of course if they become overstretched they'll have to introduce conscription, if that's ok with you.

IN the past, soldiers gave their lives for the defence of the empire, which was important to them at the time, or to defend our own freedom or that of our established allies.
The present sacrifices are hard to justify without looking around for new misadventures.
At the rate we are going the UK will become the next target for the US war against terror. So far it would appear that a significant number of the terrorist attacks have been committed or organised by people with stronger links to the UK than Afghanistan. Most of them seem to have spent time here, been students here, trained here, lived here, or even been UK citizens. Don;t be surprised if we wake up one morning and find that the US Marines have set up a base in your local town. Think about it carefully!!!
the US already has something like 35 bases here.
