I know I'm thick but given they are the third biggest travel company how come their own website isnt atol protected, surely it should be a legal requirement. So sorry for everyone affected.
"The Civil Aviation Act 1971 established the UK's CAA. Covered under this act was the creation of the original ATOL Regulations. These mandated that all travel organisers (those tour operators whose primary mode of transport was air - but not airlines themselves) must hold a licence."
Because they are an airline, it is not mandatory for them to have Air Travel Organisers' Licensing (ATOL) protection.
I wondered about that too Ethel although I understand about airlines now thanks to Gromit. We've used Security Travel online in the past where you choose your flight then your accomodation, just checked their website and they show the logos for both Abta and Atol.
Its ok saying you can claim back on your credit card , but seeing folk stranded , and being exploited due to high demand now.It makes you wonder if paying an extra 20 or 50 quid to go with thomsons or thomas cook wouldnt be a btter option ?
According to one travel EXPERT on sky this will be an end to low fares and they will level out a bit .
I see even globesoan to glasgow from tenerife has tripled in price .
Just xexploiting folk now
