My room was infested with midges last night!!! (albeit my fault for leaving the bedroom light on to attract them).

Anybody else had a few of these lately?

What's the best way to get rid of them to avoid being eaten alive throughout the night? (I did consider turning off my bedroom light and then turning on my flatmate's light so that they'd go in there instead, but decided this wasn't a very friendly gesture).

flick recently picked bogeys at them
Can of raid works wonders... although I think you can get tea tree type oil/incense thing which I've been told they hate and taht might work too as well as being a bit better for the old enviroment.

To me they usually seem fairlt sleepy/still during the day so I tend to just take a duster to them and shove the duster outside.

I had a mutant (bug) living in my room a while a go and in the end I turned the hall light on, my light off, left the door open and went out... my housemates found and dealt with it. I advocate that approach :0)
Champagne I don't think it is very nice to refer to to little people like this, why do you want to get rid of them. :-))
Put a bar at about 3 ft across your doorway so they bang their heads on the way in.

Having Irish blood, Ray, I have a lot of faith in 'the little people'. Begorra begorra, potatoes potatoes...

I'm going to get some of that tea tree oil spray. I don't like the idea of filling my room with Raid just before bedtime. I might never wake up!
Was feeling fed up then read this link, lol at your daft replies. Hi Champagne you ok hun.

Buy an Air Purge for flying insects. ( Time Mist)

Lilley oil works wonders, makes you smell nice and soothes the bites. Alternatively you can buy a midge zapper which works by pumping CO2 into the atmosphere which attracts the little blighters then it kind of sucks them into a bag.
my mate lives in a flat next to the canal and has the same problem. she invented something i thought was wicked. she cut out some thin fabric the same size as the window(cant remember what it was but thin enough so that the air could get in when she had the window open and the midges couldn't get through) and put some double sided tape around the edge and put it on the window. no she can let the air in and keep the midges out!
