Noxy, you have mentioned several times here that you have been to prison. Now we don't always agree but you come across as avery sensitive and understanding person, a fine debater and a general all round decent bloke. So I, and am sure others, was wondering about you experieneces inside and how it affected what you are now and of course what happenned for you to get there in the first place, abberation? perhaps, what would you do differently? Just ignore if you want to keep it private, I understand. AB ed, in news because I know he looks here.

Nox - I have never thought that prison was wrong for some people until I read your post. I always thought it was the one and only solution. You have made me think again. You are an intelligent and decent human being. I think after reading all yours and mustafas thread he should hang his head in shame. We have all made mistakes in our lives but surely it takes a really decent person to accept that they have made a mistake and put it right. You have done this and should be proud of yourself. I hope you have your family have a good Xmas. Mustafa you would do well to take a leaf out of Noxs book. You views maybe different and thats your perogative but you seem to think that the rest of the world has to agree you. We dont and we wont.
Nox. Something tells me you are a harry potter fan. Wicked. The potter rules!!!!!!!
a very interesting thread... I've never seen much point in prison except for people who just have to be kept away from the public. Otherwise, the principle ought to be to make people work out their punishment in some way, perhaps only in the evenings or at weekends so as not to break up family life; there is plenty of work in the country that needs doing, and it might even have the added bonus of giving the people in question some sort of purpose in life (though that may be rose-tinted optimism).

Mustafa, what ever makes you think someone travelling from NI to England is leaving his country? Last I looked, they are both British. If you disapprove of that, maybe you're a republican too?

wow I just got in and there's 43 answers! I'm Just out again but I'll read them all later, looking forward to it!
No, it's not that. Everything is interesting to some degree or other. Just that I've not seen it as any of my business to enquire of all the ins and outs of someones life because they've been to jail. I did read 'til I got the idea he'd turned things around for the better against great difficulty and against a formidable enemy,- ones self! So I just wish you all the best Nox. I wish what you've got could be bottled and doled out to a few more people, but that's too easy- it has to be Desserved to mean anything at all. Keep on tuckin'

I see that faced with intelligent arguments from anybody (not just me) you find yourself soundly beaten Mustafa. That's why I told you to shut your hole in a previous thread, because you lose all credibility with a rambling, peculiar, unfunny, uncutting response like this.
Never mind, you carry on, I'm not upset, my wife is quite amused and rather like your hero "own goal" you're roundly shooting yourself in the foot more with each action. No point being a prat unless you show it and you're certainly not shy of doing that.
Why don't you answer intelligently, address issues put to you and make a sensible case for how you feel, then there's some point to you posting. An anti-Catholic, hate filled load of old nonsense that's just riddled with insults and nothing else just makes all these good people more and more aware of why there have been issues in NI for the last God knows how long.
This has got slanted off topic towards the ills of NI by Mustafa who hates me because I'm a Catholic, I've yet to see what his views actually are on prison, perhaps you'd like to contribute positively and let us know, alternatively please fell free to continue to insult me, I have broad shoulders and I'm starting to actually feel quite sorry for you.
MustafaTickl I know that nox will not report you but I will bring yir comments to the attention of Miss Ed. There is no call for the abuse directed against him and there is nothing to say that yir foul mouthed coments will not be directed at others in the future.

You are a sad,sad individual.

Well thanks for all you explanations Nox, I feel I almost know you now. Thanks to nearly all the other contributors too!
Hello nox,

I know we,ve { i } have had the odd fall out with you, but lifes to short to argue.
I won't comment on certain postings on this thread? as i feel its not my argument, i admire your ''HONEST & FRANK '' opinion about your past, it takes a man to stand up and admit they.ve done wrong etc, you sound like you,ve got a mighty good woman there by your side.

All the best
Nox. forgive me if you have answered this...but are you remoresful for the actions that put you in prison? Did prison bring on the remorse and shame. So did prison do its job of taking you thankfully away from a lofe of crime and violence. Dont you think it could do thesame for others who need a shock to see the right path in life.

I see what you mean though.......
I can't answer for noxlumos, but statistics show that most criminals reform. (I haven't been able to google any data on this, but it's probably in any criminology textbook.) Most criminals are young men, and most give it up in their 20s. It isn't necessarily remorse or the effects of punishment (presumably there is research into this but I haven't seen any); they just seem to grow up and join the mainstream. Not many turn their lives around quite as much as noxlumos, though.
All I will say is..........................

There are many sections of society I dislike. They are, in no particular order (and certainly not finite)

1) Wooley do-gooders
2) NI Catholic Scum
3) Druggies/alkies
4) Criminals
5) Lefties
6) Anybody with an ounce of praise for Gerry Adams
7) Anybody with a bigger swimming pool than mine

Noxy may fit all these categories and like many on here I have historically crossed swords with him. However, it must be said it was more my Port Cutlass to his fake swiss army knife with a blunt edge.

However, from what I know about this dear chap is living proof that humanity in all guises has soul, passion and emotion. Without being too sycophantic, Noxy is a good egg and although we are as polemic as Hitler and Leonard Cohen I am sure I could enjoy a hearty meal and drink with him.

All those, particular the hilariously named mustafa (note the sarcasm), who have knocked noxy, he has more intellect and natural wit and charm than the majority.

I doff my hat in respect.

If only he accepted Ireland should be unified (but governed by the British!!!) he would be welcome in my Lodge anyday.

Nox.....how do you go from nothing to being rich.

I know some people have that entreprenerial brain and risktaking idea filled mind, so i may not be able to do it myself....but how do you make the jump and how long did it take you to get success.

Did you have businesses like you have now before you lost everythin, so just went back to your roots.

Ive decided that although im not money orientated, Id rather have it than not.
Hello Matt, Prison didn't make me feel remorseful at all, just resentful. I did come to regret things in my life obviously but that was thanks to my wife giving me a different perspective of everything, not anything prison did. If I'd not have met her I'd have gone downhill rather than up.
Hello Wardy how's you? I must save up for a real swiss army knife and sharpen it, to give meself a chance :)
Zorro, I'll catch you on MSN tomorrow if I may and chat about money and so forth, but without doing anything illegal whatsoever you can go from nothing to comfortable in under 2 years and it's not skillful, anyone could do it.
We love you NOXY, we do
We love you NOXY, we do
We love you NOXY, we do
Ohhhh NOXY we love you!
As Wardy has quite eloquently pointed out, nox is a 'good egg'..a real gent, I would go as far to say :o)

it just goes to show that it is possible to get on with, and genuinely like, a person whose politics/religion etc you don't neccessarily agree with.

Nox has constantly wowed me with his views, and has changed my way of thinking several times as well as enriched my own knowledge. This couldn't have been done if he had been allowed to rot in jail ~ I commend him every day. His wife & family are incredibly lucky :o)

(I have several sick buckets..shall I pass them out? lol)
Lol Yeah please do, I'm getting embarassed now and my wife's worried my head not fit throught the door if it goes on much longer :). Seriously though thank you I do appreciate the nie things everyone has said, and for the record it looks as though Mustafa has been banned, but that was no doing of mine, I don't report people ( particularly those having a go at me).
Ach well, if he's banned it's no great loss.
