I say lets bomb Sadam and get it over and done with. The world is better off without Hitler Mk 3 (Bin Liner being Mk2)

If you have an extremely selective bomb, which can destroy Sadam without hurting millions of innocent Iraquis, then you only have to consider the morality of an opinion based almost emtirely on media scare mongering. Oh, and don't allow incidentals like repercussions bother you too much - hey, it all involves people we don't know personally, so what's the harm?
Please note that all threads relating to the current international situation will be monitored closely. Complaints have been received.

Any racist postings (and posters) will be dealt with swiftly.

Thanks - and don't let this get in the way of serious and healthy debate! AB Editor
I say not; it will just fuel hatred against the West to an unprecedented level and no doubt there's plenty of fanatics ready, willing and able to jump into the shoes of Hussein and BL should they be disposed of.

Precisely Andy - what's the harm?
If bin liner is MK2 and Sadam MK3 where the do animals like Mugabe fit in? Why do our morals only stretch as far as our own concerns? There are evil and frightening people in a lot of places but we're out there winding up the Iraqis and the excuse is the humanitarian crimes of Mr Hussain (undeniably atrocious yes..). If we're on a big humanitarian role why arent we cleaning up the other messes, i didnt see the UN blanket bombing Milosovic when he decided to try to 'cleanse' an entire race. Get with it people, this is oil and its politics and its daddies vendetta. Rant over, I thank you..
One of the problems with irony in print, is that it doesn't always translate between sender and recipient. So, to make sure I am clear on my viewpoint - I was using all the sarcasm i could muster to respnsd to what I believe to be an equally ironic question - please confirm that you don't really mean what you are saying!

This is just a hunch, Ned and Mad, - but it's my guess that you would be two of those complaining bitterly when hundreds of terrified refugees from these countries arrived on these shores fleeing the bombing. Dubya is trying to make his Daddy proud of him and Tony is trying to divert attention away from the (coming soon) economic depression. I voted for schools and hospitals, not bombs and misery. What about you? If you are seriously concerned about the threat of WOM destruction, why not start with India, Pakistan or North Korea? On the other hand they are equipped to fight back....

I say we give flanders and mad_for_it a gun each and let them lead the front line, then we'll see how pro war they are. We'll do this, We'll do that, but we all know that flanders will just be sitting in his house watching the news while thousands of poor innocent people are loosing their homes and family. How would you feel if someone dropped a bomb on your house?
Did the 0.5m dafties who were out on Saturaday not realise Man U were playing the Arses Live on Telly!
"Did the 0.5m dafties who were out on Saturaday not realise Man U were playing the Arses Live on Telly!" - Smithers.

-

Since even the BBC were claiming at least 750K, and the organisers something like 2m (and the truth being somewhere in between), I'd be interested to know where you get your figures from.

-

And yes, we 'dafties' did realise. There were three blokes in front of us in Arsenal shirts who all lamented being unable to see it, but concluding that what they were doing was a considerably more worthwhile cause.

Nice one Ned ! Rev Lovejoy will say a prayer for you Tonight. Even if there was a few people there it was a significant event in Britain as a new record has been set for the biggest sponsored waste of time. Thank goodness that we don't have a slimey Frenchman running our country like Chirac the weasel worrying about his military contracts etc. that he has with Iraq.
Ned, Mad and Smithy - the words "all talk and no trousers" spring to mind!
Ned - do you read the Daily Mail by any chance? It's just you come across like the sort of person who would.
Ned, fair point about the refugees already fleeing Iraq. I was at the march on Saturday and there were indeed some mingers there, not all of them women! I had a really nice time, it was more of a shuffle than a march and all very good natured. Even the police were having a good time (possibly thinking about their overtime). There was a Grannies against the War group and a splinter Great Grannies group, some people took their kids and their dogs and there were some very funny posters. It was so huge that even some of us who set off at the front didn't get to the park before the speeches had finished and the noise was incredible. I've also learned some great new chants that could be modified slightly and used at the Arsenal, so it wasn't an entirely wasted day for footie fans. Why don't you organise a march for the pro-war lobby and see if you can get Tony to speed things back up again as for some reason, on Sunday he seemed to be backing off a bit?
