Rishi Soon Axed. In answer to the OP, I don't know, but that's hardly an answer is it?😊 Don't much care either.

//It will be News later this year //

Perhaps AB needs a "PROPHECY" category?

They won't need to oust Rishi.

It is usual practice to resign after losing.

> who would be your preferred choice to lead the party

My style of Tory is the Ken Clarke (or, for someone younger, Ruth Davidson) type.  Someone like that ... but who ... ??? I'm struggling ... so, probably the right-wing the better, they can avoid the left and centre ground and spend some time in the wilderness having a sulk.

David (Lord) Frost is a good call, but there are some obvious problems. He won't be an MP and would have to leave the Lords.

Best Answer definitely has to go to ichkeria for that 9.22am post, which made me think of Kemi's potential leadership campaign slogan:

VOTE FOR ME - I'M NOT AS INSANE AS SUELLA BRAVERMAN

It's not absolutely guaranteed that Labour will win the next GE nor that Sunak will resign if they do.

But if these two events DID happen, the new leader would have to reconcile the various factions of the party. I don't see Badenoch having the polical capital to do this.

I'd like Ruth Davidson or Rory Stewart to lead the party, but both of those have as much chance as Lady Penelope and Parker.

Rory Stewart isn't even in the party now and Ruth Davidson - who was never an MP - retired from frontline action and now sits in the Lords. Like Ed Vaizey for one - another decent Tory now sidelined - they each pursue media careers. So no chance I'm afraid

Like Trump's possible line at election time: "Vote for me. I didn't start any wars!"

SP 11.49   Agree with you on Rory Stewart .....at least he could see what a Clown+Joker ..Johnson was  and got out of it.

"Rishi Soon Axed"?

Hang your head in shame.

(and yes - I'm stealing that one)

Trouble is, everyone could also see what a Clown+Joker Rory Stewart is. A worst choice for leader could hardly be found.

I saw a better one than Rishi Soon Axed - Sadiq Khanage.  I think he'll be angling for Labour leadership before long.

Rory Stweart is a fine MP, unfortunately lacking any semblance of Leadership Qualities. Bit like Truss in that respect.

Old_Geezer said //A good choice would be to negate the previous error and invite Boris Johnson back//

I don’t think the electorate will become amnesic, and forget that he is an incompetent fool, and would not recognise the truth if it punched him on the nose.

"Rory Stweart is a fine MP"

He isnt an MP: he left politics years ago

Rory Stewart what a wimp, remember how he was going to sort out the prison system within a year,he's a total loser.

No good citing others in the frame sp.
