Why do you think the police are at fault? Don't steal the bloody car. Sympathy to her family, but she has only herself to blame.
do you have a link?
perhaps the dead woma wasnt in the car/the thief?
Bednobs, fair point and one that didn't twig from the OP. In truth, a 53 year old mother of three isn't a good fit for a car thief!
It's not obvious whether the woman was in the car being chased or a pedestrian.
I have lost the link but she was an innocent casualty
Thanks. Stargazer, you see how links can give proper context to a post?
it says in this link she was in a car and was not a pedestrian. Condolences to her family...

That link (and the report in the Express) is ambiguous. The woman could have been in the car being chased or she could have been an innocent pedestrian.
I suspect that if the police were to be less than vigorous in such situations they might well be castigated as 'woke' or 'snowflake' or victims of 'elf and safety' or 'ooman rites'.
There's always armchair critics at a loose end.
The tiniest bit of research would tell you that her car was hit by an unmarked police car which was pursuing a stolen car. Some people on here need to think before posting and/or do some research beforehand.
This happens too often. Chasing car thieves does seem to increase greatly the risk to the public.

And, as has been mentioned already, others need to add links when referring to specific news stories.
Has car crime joined burglary in being too much hassle to deal with then?

Presumably this now dead lady had been either actually driving her car or was sitting in it, both of which did not put her at risk. If the police unmarked car had not hit and killed her, the next person or persons in its way would have been injured. Why chase a car at all, as even catching it up would have ended badly? The "stolen" car would have come to rest at some point and, if it was in fact stolen, police action could have been taken then. Police chases seem to me to always end in tragedy and the police drivers seem to enjoy their moments of high drama. Imagine all those people who have been hit with this just two days before Christmas and don't forget the emergency services and hospital staff who have had to deal with it. The image will not disappear from their minds overnight! Doesn't anyone feel the same as I do?
Stargazer, what would you do about the idiots that steal cars for street racing, putting lives at risk? This happens too often where I live, with the stolen cars smashed and abandoned, often set on fire

Gosh I'm glad I don't live where you live barry. If ever I move I'll check with you to make sure I'm not in your area. Must be awful.

I am truly shocked to read your post Barry. I do not have the answer but chasing them at speed it not it. I was young in the fifties and this did not seem to be a problem then. Things deteriorated since the end of World War 2, but I haven't got the answer myself.
So we just let them get away with it then? No deterrent, knowing the police won't give chase because of a tiny risk to the public.
