Would've thought he'd be able to plug any financial gaps himself.
He hasn't got that rich by using his own money.
Twitter is haemorrhaging uses by 1 million a day. It is a dying platform, and Musk vastly overpaid for it. Everyone is switching to Mastodon.

https://joinmastodon.org/

And it is unlike Musk’s other companies where clever engineering solutions brought success and investors. Twitter is a decaying piece of crap and hasn’t innovated for years. It is particularly vulnerable to a recession when advertising budgets are the first thing struggling companies cut back on.
If Twitter does go bust, I for one will not shed a tear.
//Mastodon//. Is that like the elephant in the room
I’ve just tried to join Mastodon but, despite requesting several times, checking spam folder and that the email address was correct, I haven’t received my confirmation to activate my account. Brilliant.
Zacs,
Mastodon have been overwhelmed by the number of people wanting to join. They have been around for 6 years and gained members steadily. Then in the past few weeks there has been an exodus of millions from Twitter that was unplanned for, and they are struggling to scale up.
OK, I’ll exercise patience then.
// A FRESH Twitter challenger has emerged and is already proving too popular for its own good, forced to shut down new sign-ups as Twitter refugees flee changes to their network and flood the new rival.

And sign-ups to the social media challenger have soared after Twitter changed the way users reply to one another late last week.

The “exceptionally high traffic” forced the network to shut down new registrations “until quality of service can be assured for existing users”. //

09:43 Bang on Gromit, I think the whole social media obsession may be waning, but Twitter is leading the way down the kazi. It's a good thing too I find it very disturbing these days to enter anywhere and see people entranced like zombies on their phones, hardly anyone talking just gazing vacantly at the little screen like something out of a dystopian Sci Fi film.
Not that I'm going to sign up but what are the key differences between Mastodon and Twitter? Why are members of the latter moving in droves to the former?
I seen someone on about Mastadon about a month ago saying it is collective of independent groups, each with its own moderating rules and policies but folk on different groups can contact each other.

Twitter seems to be run by a bunch of imbeciles anyway.(and perhaps used by imbeciles).I have had permanent suspensions(Putin related) twice unsuspended.Giving it a miss now.

Are you making stuff up again, Gromit?
Twitter has been losing members since the Musk takeover and it might be in the low millions by now but definitely not a million a day.

I seen a forecast loss of thirty-two million over the next two year.
Which means nothing, TCL.

House prices in the UK are forecast to fall 30% or 2% depending on who you listen to.
I heard both those figures on TV today.
I have no idea but it was another indication the million a day figure was wrong, that's all.
I heard the losing a million users a day on a podcast, and I believed it, but cannot verify it. I am not making stuff up. If you can post more accurate numbers of Twitters daily loses, please do so, but I notice you haven’t.

Mastodon has crashed because too many are trying to sign on, after Musk took over Twitter.
Twitter lost $167million last year, it has 200million + active users. Losing a million users a day* from 206 million is not catastrophic.

Even if the figure is less, the fact it is losing users because of Musk is noteworthy. If you want to quibble about the stats I post, please do so. But if you do not supply amended or different stats, your posts are just worthless.

And there we have it. One person tells an outlandish porkie and because it fits your agenda you go for it.

Try a bit of lateral thinking.

On the subject of twitter I somehow think Elon has other things in mind. Currently the FBI are the target.
