Another Brexit Bonus?

Will they ever solve the Northern Ireland problem part of the ‘oven-ready’ deal?

I could have said that despite Remoaner assurances that all R&D in this country would cease immediately if people were stupid enough to vote for Brexit some US firm announced they were going to build the largest research facility in the world shortly after we did just that.

I hope this gets sorted out as fear of this sort of thing this was one of the main reasons I voted to remain as it impacts the industry I work in, telecommunications.

The UK are world leaders in a number of things, but not everything, and where we aren't then collaboration with, and leadership of, those who are is paramount to maintaining overall leadership status. This is especially true at the lower technology readiness levels where funding is required as there is no revenue to be made yet.

I do wish someone would post a positive Brexit story as my blue passport and what the government are doing with our super sovereignty just isn't doing it for me at the moment. Lets see if they go ahead and pull the £6BN that was earmarked to replace the EU funding, to pay for whatever other guff Truss and Kamikazi have got going on. The EU aren't pulling their commitment.

I wish there was one. Despite repeated requests(bar two large bags of pretty useless ‘sovereignty’) I’m yet to hear of one.

Some that voted for Brexit cite sovereignty as a - sometimes the only - benefit. A US firm is not UK Sovereign and ultimately benefits the US firm, and the US, in terms of technology leadership, not the UK. Apologies if the sovereignty thing isn’t your drug, I wrongly assumed.

It is not true that there are no Brexit benefits, I’ve been compiling a list (so stop moaning)

- Blue passports
- The Crown Mark on pub glasses
- Mobile phone companies able to make roaming charges
(when using your phone in mainland Europe)
- Killing our honey-bees with EU banned pesticides
- Not having to insure ride-on lawnmowers used on private land
- Signage within Dartford tunnel spaced at yardage distances (in round numbers)
- The freedom to release as much raw sewage as we like into our rivers and coastal waters (and doing so), without fear of being prosecuted by the European Commission
- Un-capped bonuses permitted to be paid to our bankers

Even if that was true, it’s not all about money, in this case it’s about access to expertise. I’ve worked on Horizon projects where the input of the EU partners was invaluable. Access to that requires money and a framework to facilitate it, I hope that we don’t lose this.

To Brexiteers, the above benefits far outweigh the loss of billions of pounds in exports and our economy being around 5% down on what it would have been had we remained members of the EU.

Yes, Archy, I can see how it must have come as a total shock to you and all your clever colleagues when the majority of people in this country voted to leave the EU.
Let's face it, if you and all your scientist chums haven't been able to work it out yet, it'll just have to Remain another one of them unsolved mysteries, innit.

the uk is fortunate enough to have some excellent universities which carry out world class research.... if the governmemt are not willing to maintain funding for research - and replace the funding opportunities lost from leaving - then that is a status which we will eventually lose

Before the referendum all the faux lefties used to pass on the dire warnings re the perils of Brexit from the likes of;
the CBI
J P Morgan
Exxon Mobil
The Duke of Westminster
IE. Big Banks, Big Corporations, Massive Landholders, etc, etc.
So what I wanted to ask was;
a) When did the Left start putting these people on pedestals and hanging on their every word.
b) How come they weren't even slightly suspicious about the motives of these doom-mongers.
