Open letter from Nicola Sturgeon:

There will be a widespread sense of relief that the chaos of the last few days (indeed months) will come to an end, though notion of Boris Johnson staying on as PM until autumn seems far from ideal, and surely not sustainable?
Boris Johnson was always manifestly unfit to be PM and the Tories should never have elected him leader or sustained him in office for as long as they have. But the problems run much deeper than one individual.
The Westminster system is broken.
For Scotland, the democratic deficit inherent in Westminster government doesn’t get fixed with a change of PM.
None of the alternative Tory PMs would ever be elected in Scotland. And in policy terms, it is hard to see what real difference hard Brexit supporting Labour offers.
Independence only happens if a majority living in Scotland choose it - but there is no doubt it offers the real and permanent alternative to Westminster, and the opportunity to fulfil our potential at home and play our part as a good global citizen.
It’s time for that choice.
Lastly, my differences with Boris Johnson are many and profound. But leadership is difficult and brings with it many stresses and strains, and so on a personal level I wish him and his family well.

ZM, as pointed out to naomi already, the word "the" is not in maggiebee's heading.
Nicola Sturgeon can go suck a lemon & if the Scots vote for independence so can they!
Doesn't the same apply to Wales, N Ireland, Liverpool,... but noones come up with a more fairer and better system
Neither is ‘A’, Jno.

Thanks jno, but he's glaikit.
I can see "Scottish perspective" as in, a perspective that is Scottish but not, "the Scottish perspective" as in, the only one there is.
'ZM, as pointed out to naomi already, the word "the" is not in maggiebee's heading.'

Aaaah give-over, jno. What else does Scottish Perspective mean!
it could mean "a" or "the" but whichever you add, it's not what maggiebee wrote, so you're putting words in her mouth.
She wrote 'Scottish Perspective'. This clearly and unequivocally suggest that the whole of Scotland thinks this way.
If I put, "English accent", does that "clearly and unequivocally suggest" there is only the one accent in the whole of England?
^ What the hell has that got to do with anything ??

Who gives a stuff about the 'Scottish perspective' ? Certainly not me !
I have replaced, "Scottish perspective" with, "English accent", both have an adjective followed by a noun.

If, "Scottish perspective", "clearly and unequivocally suggest[s] that the whole of Scotland thinks this way.", I was asking if a similar interpretation can be made of,"English accent".

That interpretation being there is a clear and unambiguous claim that across the whole of the country of England, there is only one accent spoken by English folk.

I am sure you would agree there are a wide range of accents spoken by English folk up and down the country and no-one could reasonably claim there is only the one.

The same can be said about Scottish perspective.

With many opinions from different folk up and down Scotland, no-one can reasonably interpret that to mean there is only the one perspective in Scotland.
How many SNP voters does it take to change a lightbulb?

None, Nicola Sturgeon tells them she's done it and they all sit around in the dark clapping.
Nicola Sturgeon is manifestly unfit to represent the interests of the Scots, but we put up with her. Normally though we try to avoid giving her nonsense the publicity it doesn't deserve by ignoring the ramblings.
I thought news reports showed her verging on being slightly unhinged today, which to be fair is an improvement on the usual barking madness.

René said it best.

Well, she's seen off three PMs up until now and waiting for the 4th to show up. No doubt she will see him/her off too.
